Lion & Serpent Archive Update

Here is a message from the Editor of Lion & Serpent:
Brothers, Sisters, and Friends,

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

Sekhet-Maat Lodge has now released more than ten years of Lion & Serpent's digital archive for free. We have coordinated our resources to enable distribution of even the most recent issues immediately. Our intention is to make this a practice with future issues, as well, publishing both the print and PDF formats simultaneously.

We are also offering a new way to support the journal. Many people from all over the world have chosen to support our work with a subscription to the print edition of L&S. It is our hope that the high quality printed artwork and collectibility of the paper version will continue to attract new and renewing subscribers. In addition to this, we are now making possible sponsorship opportunities for individuals, organizations, businesses, families, etc.

You can sponsor one year of Lion & Serpent publication for as little as $10. Come view the details of this new program at our journal's website:

Love is the law, love under will.

Financial Summary

For complete information visit: April 2009 Profit and Loss Statements.

Monthly Percentage
105.00%
Yearly Percentage to date
103.57%

This month makes the fifth of the last six that we've had our self-sufficiency over 100%, this month edging us closer to our target for the year of 105%. We're making great progress on this, though it's important to keep in mind that we have a substantial annual expense ($500/year liability insurance premium) coming up in June that will knock us back several percentage points if we don't keep ahead of the curve.

Announcement from the Lodge Master

Cari Fratres, Sorores, et Amici,

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

In order to focus on the many changes that have taken place in my personal life in the last year, I plan to step down from my position as Lodge Master, and will nominate Geoff to take my place. Assuming this change will be approved by the Electoral College, it will be made official on Sol in Leo, Luna in Pisces, dies Veneris, Anno Legis IV:xvii (August 7, 2009 e.v.).

I am very proud of being a member of Sekhet-Maat Lodge, and honored to have served as its Master. I am doubly proud of my brothers and sisters who have worked so hard over the last ten years since my own Minerval, and some of you long before that, to build the presence of O.T.O. in Portland to the level it is at today. We have broken new ground in the history of O.T.O. many times together, and I know that we will continue to do so in coming years.

I will remain an active member of the Lodge, continuing to serve as Priest and Initiator, and will continue to facilitate classes, discussions, and rituals as usual.

Geoff's strength of character, wisdom, and intelligence will lead us to the next stage of our evolution, and I consider him to be the most qualified and best suited person for this job right now. Because of this, I am simply thrilled that he will take the reins. Please join me in thanking Geoff for agreeing to take on this challenging responsibility.

Love is the law, love under will.

In the Bonds of the Order,
I am Fraternally Yours,
and in Universal Brotherhood,

Fr. NThLMKMNRG
Parsifal

New Graphics and an upcoming event

  • We have added a new social networking graphic, containing our weekly public schedule, to our Promotion page, which can be posted to your websites or blog. Click here to go directly to the new graphic and see the code you can use to embed it in your site.

Jack Parsons webcomic

In case you missed it, The G-Spot podcast has an excellent interview with Richard Carbonneau, author of the The Marvel, an upcoming graphic novel about the life of rocket scientist and O.T.O. initiate Jack Parsons.

Richard has kindly permitted Sekhet-Maat Lodge to use a page from The Marvel in our materials. This image, depicting a Gnostic Mass temple, in coming weeks will be printed on postcards that you will be able to find freely available at various locations around town. Keep an eye out for them!

Three New Titles in Circulation

Three new titles! These books are on the (sexy) circulation shelf and ready for lending.

White Stains & The Nameless Novel: Flowers of Eros and Evil. Aleister Crowley

From Wet Angel Books... White Stains remains Aleister Crowley's most infamous work, his attempt at taking the Satanic/erotic decadence of Baudelaire and ramping it up to new extremes of degradation, sexual depravity and demonic frenzy in this over-the-top compendium of eros and evil. This new edition of White Stains also includes Crowley's rare later volume, The Nameless Novel (1904), a rampant pornographic novella written to stimulate and amuse his wife. With a new introduction by Crowley scholar D.M. Mitchell, the book is illustrated with rare examples of Victorian erotic photography, making it a decorative document of fin-de-siècle erotica, as well as a unique compendium of Crowley s most outrageous and notorious literary output.

Self-Initiation Into the Golden Dawn Tradition: A Complete Curriculum of Study for Both the Solitary Magician and the Working Magical Group. Chic Cicero, Sandra Tabatha Cicero.

From Llewellyn... The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn has been considered one of the most important Western magical systems for over a century. Although much of their knowledge has been published, to really enter the system required initiation within a Golden Dawn temple — until now.

The Mystical and Magical System of the A∴A∴ - The Spiritual System of Aleister Crowley & George Cecil Jones Step-by-Step. James A. Eshelman

“Never before have the inner pathways of this Journey been so finely mapped, nor the Way so clearly marked. To you, dear children of the Light, do we deliver freely what has been given to us. May the Way be opened for all who would walk it, proudly, joyously, serenely – with strength, wisdom, love, and the LIGHT which informs them with Beauty.” – from Chapter 11 of the Mystical and Magical System of the A∴A∴

Kaaba Series 1

Sekhet-Maat Lodge will soon issue a new series of four booklets, the Kaaba Series. This was originally created in Norwegian by T Omphalos at Sangraal Lodge in the valley of Trondheim and adapted for the U.S. by Fr. NΘΛMKMNΡΓ (along with some graphical changes). The booklet series corresponds with (and advertises) a public reading and discussion which happens on the 2nd Tuesday of every month, where the documents in the booklet are read aloud, and discussed piece by piece. We plan to print a large volume of these booklets, to distribute to the public.

The first volume, The Great Beast 666, is now available in PDF form by clicking here. We are still looking for typographical errors. Please help us find them! We plan to eventually print 1000 of these in the first run, so we'd like to make sure that it's free of errors!

Thelemic Symposium will not be televised!

The only opportunity you have to see and hear Thelemic Symposium is at Thelemic Symposium! http://www.thelemic-symposium.com

Recording devices are prohibited at Thelemic Symposium. Non-flash photography is permitted. The restriction against recording is in the interest of promoting an atmosphere of immediacy, encouraging the panelists to speak candidly, and minimizing the "audience/performer" dynamic. Mediated content is very easy to find in the world today in video, audio, and text formats. Immediate content is rare, and Symposium aims to preserve a sense of immediacy because the topic is so personal. Panelists may choose to publish their prepared material on their own, but that's as close as you can get without attending.

Tickets will sell out in the final couple of weeks, and are already half sold. Anyone can purchase tickets online by visiting http://www.thelemic-symposium.com
